Solutions · Food & grocery

A grocery app that keeps the ten-minute promise.

Fast delivery is an operations problem first. The shopper app has to find “doodh” as easily as “milk”, the picker has to walk the store in the right order, and the rider has to leave with the right bag. We build every one of those screens on one shared order.

Live build: Zippit · Quick commerce

Who it's for

If this sounds like you.

  • Kirana networks and local supermarkets going online
  • Quick-commerce founders launching in a Tier 2 city
  • Dark-store operators who need picker and dispatch tools
  • Organic, meat or speciality grocers with a loyal local base

Every side of the product

4 apps, one system.

Most studios build the customer screen and stop. The other sides are where the business actually runs, so we build them together on one design system.

  1. 01

    Shopper app

Fast browse, search in local phrasing, a clear fee breakdown and live order status. Zippit lets one cart span several neighbourhood shops.

  2. 02

    Picker screen

The pick list sorted by aisle, ambient to chilled to frozen, with tap-to-confirm and substitutions the customer approves in one tap.

  3. 03

    Rider app

Bag pickup, multi-stop routes and proof of delivery. Zippit's rider app runs in Kannada as well as English.

  4. 04

    Ops console

Orders, on-time rate, riders online and stock-outs across stores, on a live city map.

Features Indian customers expect

The must-haves, done properly.

Designed for the phones, networks, languages and payment habits your customers actually have.

  1. 01

    Vernacular search

“Pyaaz 2 kg”, “atta” and “paneer” find the right product, typed in Hindi, Hinglish or English.

  2. 02

    Serviceability check

The app confirms a store can deliver to the pin code before anyone fills a cart.

  3. 03

    Substitution approvals

If an item is out of stock, the picker offers a match and the shopper says yes or no from their phone.

  4. 04

    Honest fees

Delivery, small-cart, late-night and rain fees, each explained in plain words before checkout.

  5. 05

    UPI and cash on delivery

UPI first, with COD for customers who still prefer it.

  6. 06

    Slots and instant delivery

Ten-minute orders for top-ups and scheduled slots for the weekly shop.

  7. 07

    Works on low-end Android

Light screens and cached catalogues so browsing stays quick on older phones and weak data.

Cost and timeline

10–12 weeks for a first version.

Fixed quote within 48 hours of your brief: scope, timeline and price in writing before we start. These are what move the number.

  • Single store, many stores or dark stores
  • Catalogue size and how often prices and stock change
  • Your own riders versus a delivery partner
  • Integration with your billing or inventory system
  • Number of languages for shoppers and staff

Questions

About your grocery delivery app.

What does a grocery delivery app cost in India?

The cost depends on the number of stores, the size of the catalogue and how many apps you need: shopper, picker, rider and ops. We send a fixed quote within 48 hours of your brief. The app cost guide explains each driver so you can plan before we talk.

Can it connect neighbourhood kirana shops instead of a dark store?

Yes. Our concept build Zippit does exactly that: shops within a short radius share one cart, and a single runner collects from each on a multi-stop route. It needs less capital than a dark store and suits Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

How long until we can launch?

A full version with shopper, picker, rider and ops screens usually takes 10 to 12 weeks. A store with its own delivery staff and a simpler catalogue can launch sooner. A two-week concept sprint gives you a clickable prototype first.

Will it work on cheap phones and patchy networks?

Yes. We keep the catalogue cached, compress images and test on low-end Android handsets. The rider and picker apps keep working through weak signal and sync once the connection returns. Prices and stock refresh in the background, so a shopper never waits on a spinner to see what is available.

Do we own the code?

Yes. You get the full source code, design files and brand system at hand-over. Your own engineers or any other team can carry on from there with no licence fees. We also leave documentation on how the order flow works.

Next · Taxi booking appA ride app with the driver and the city in it too.The booking screen is the easy part. The harder parts are the driver app, onboarding, the live map your team watches and safety that works when it matters. We've built bike-taxi, carpool and rental products, and all of them start from those harder parts.
